Cast It – My Way  – Petra Kaiser

Glass Casting can be challenging but glass casting “My Way” is avoiding most of the pitfalls you might have encountered with other casting methods.  Making casting molds with Kaiser Lee Board will enable you to make your own shapes, which you can use countless times. With minimal effort, you will be able to create beautiful self-standing sculptures, which can be displayed just by themselves or mounted on a fused glass platform or stand.  You will also learn how to prepare a mold so that you will have very little to no coldworking to do if you don’t insist on a highly shiny rim. Using up random pieces of glass, you will be watching me making precast elements using the KLENDOX technique, making my own frit, and much more.  And of course, we will be filling the mold with all these goodies and setting it up for firing with a trick as well. Make sure to take some time for the Curious Mondo Glass Art Symposium 2021. Please use this affiliated link. Registering is free, but just in case you will decide to buy the full symposium I will get a little kickback.

BIG ARTS 2021
Dear Students,

thank you all for a great 2020/2021 class season at BIG ARTS in Sanibel, Florida. We managed quite well even with hiding our faces behind the masks. But as I said, it helped me to survive another year without plastic surgery.  undecided

Only one month is left in this 20/21 season. So far we have plans to teach both days, Thursday and Wednesday. The Thursday classes are sold out, but we do have room in the Wednesday classes.

If you would like to sign up, please call BIG ARTS at 239-395-0900 and we will see you next Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 9:30 am.

If you can’t make it in April, we will start back up in October.

Either way, have a beautiful summer and stay in touch.

petra

    • How to create your own pattern with your flexible KLB system.
    • How to solve a problem.
    • How to work with Wissmach Luminescent Glass

    • A short introduction to KLENDOX (a technique that uses the KLB Sand which is actually leftover from carving the Kaiser Lee Board).

Me for You – You for Me

Me for You – You for Me

Last week I went shopping in a small store, where the owner as well as her staff wore face masks. But many of their customers did not. After I asked her how she felt about it, she said as long they don’t make mask wearing mandatory, she could not say anything. So I made her a sign and it is already making a difference.

Some of you might have a similar situation and If you like, you could print a PDF File of this image to make your own sign(s).

Those of you who have met me personally know how I love to be with people. Since the current developments give little hope that I will be able to see many of you personally this year, I wanted to try a get together in our Facebook Group “Creative Kiln Forming”.

This get together is meant to get to know each other, ask questions and if it works well, we could repeat it regularly. Artists thrive by exchanging ideas and collaborating. And this could become our platform.

For those of you who would want to take a class, I also added a virtual class option to our cart.

Fuse IT Studio Classes – Your Project – Your Theme

Fuse IT Studio Classes – Your Project – Your Theme

Another great season at BIG Arts comes to an end. Big thanks to all of you who attended this year. We hope you will have a beautiful summer. It is a joy working with you and seeing all these beautiful and different glass art pieces coming to life. Between now and October we will offer some classes here at our FUSE IT studio in Cape Coral, FL where you can sign up for individual days. They go from 10 AM to 1 PM. But if your project takes longer to finish, you will be given more time.

    Yes, your project, your theme!

This means you can come with an idea, or you can choose one out of my books, articles, website, or from samples you see here at the studio. Want to make your own molds with KLB, no problem, I will find the time to help you with that, too. With only 4 people in a class you all will get a lot of instructions and support. Should you choose a project that requires cold working you will have the opportunity to purchase an individual cold working session which does include firepolishing. Since BIG Arts campus is being rebuilt we will Resume classes at the BIG Arts office building on Periwinkle Way in October, 2019.
