Our new pendant enhancement bails were very popular with

our students in Las Vegas. You, too can buy them now - online.

Check out the "Jewelry" section.

And even so the silver price has incrieased, we have not raised our price.

New Kaiser Lee Board Rule!

In a recent workshop I demonstrated the mold blocks versus the solid molds and explained that one can not fire over the edges of a solid mold since it would be difficult to separate the glass from the mold without destroying the mold.  Said it and thought - why not - if we put an 1/8" fiber paper 1" wide and as long as the mold on the side of the mold - it would give it enough cushion to get the glass of the mold without destroying it.

Fuse It - Bails - create your own with a small piece of KLB

If you want an easier way, you may order our Fuse It Bail Kit online. Please use link below.

http://fuseit.estoreadvanced.biz/index.php?p=product&id=62&parent=15

If you have the time and a piece of KLB you can create your own fuse on bails. For those of you who have a saw (even a tile saw will do) you can create it all in one piece and cut it into narrow bails after the first fuse firing. If you want to omit this step you cut your glass strips in 1/4" (1cm) wide pieces and place them on the mold with some room in between and finish them in a single firing. Round off the top with the grinder and than clean it thoroughly with a diamond sponge and fuse them to your pendant.

Let's assume you have a piece of KLB 6" x 3" x 1" - Take the sanding sponge and carve a step about 1/4" deep and 1" wide of the long side of your mold. Primo Prime the mold and dry it in the kiln at 500 F. It will look a little ugly when you take it out but don't worry that fires away. While your mold dries cut strips of glass in the color you like. All strips are 5" long, two of them are as narrow as possible about 3/8", one strip is 3/4" wide and one is 1.5" wide. You also need a strip of 1/8" thick fiber paper - 6" long and 1/4" wide.

Now you can place everything on the cooled off mold. Start with the 3/4" wide strip and place it on the carved down surface, than place one of the thin strips on it next to the step followed by the fiber paper and than the second thin strip - cover everything with the 1 1/2" wide strip. Fire it up to 1480 F and when it is ready you can slice as described above.

Have you heard of FACEBOOK?

My friend Pip introduced me to Face book a few months ago. I can't say that I have understood everything that is going on

Facebook but it is a nice way to stay in touch and communicate.

It took me only 3 years to  make this lamp - as my Mom reminded me this Christmas.

              Lamp                      Drape mold for Lamp

I have used the powder painting technique which you have seen in my YOU Tube video http://glassfusingprojects.blogspot.com/.
The glass was about 22" x 22" and the mold is 9.5" high and build with molds and building blocks.

This could be one of the projects if you are signing up for a Workshop in our 'Fuse It Studio'.

 New Product for your creativiy!

Kaiser Lee Board makes an easy drape mold and when you cover it with a used and therefore soft piece of fiber paper

you will have no trouble at all. Cover the top of the set up with some kiln wash dust and chances are your glass will release

without destroying the fiber paper.
