Already our last 4 weekly classes for this season!

BIG ARTS 2021
Dear Students,

thank you all for a great 2020/2021 class season at BIG ARTS in Sanibel, Florida. We managed quite well even with hiding our faces behind the masks. But as I said, it helped me to survive another year without plastic surgery.  undecided

Only one month is left in this 20/21 season. So far we have plans to teach both days, Thursday and Wednesday. The Thursday classes are sold out, but we do have room in the Wednesday classes.

If you would like to sign up, please call BIG ARTS at 239-395-0900 and we will see you next Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 9:30 am.

If you can’t make it in April, we will start back up in October.

Either way, have a beautiful summer and stay in touch.

My Pocket Vessel Class is on

    October 16th, 2020 at 4 pm ETD.

And let me reveal a little secret. It did not go so smoothly, so you will learn a lot more than I originally planned.

As you all know, glass has a mind of its own.  Bitmoji Image

    • How to design, cut, and carve a Kaiser Lee Board (KLB) Mold.
    • How to create your own pattern with your flexible KLB system.
    • How to solve a problem.
    • How to work with Wissmach Luminescent Glass
    • How to make a pocket into your vessel that is easy to remove.
    • A short introduction to KLENDOX (a technique that uses the KLB Sand which is actually leftover from carving the Kaiser Lee Board).

    • How to hang your glass vessel without any addition of wire.
    • How to fire your glass vessel.

    Virtual Get Together

    Virtual Get Together

    Dear Fellow Glass Artists,

It looks like a lot of us will be staying at home longer than we first anticipated. So lets find new ways to get together.  Thanks to technology we can do this most easily online. Even Facebook has a new feature called “Room” where we can get together with a group of up to 20 people.

This is why I started a virtual Get Together 2 weeks  ago. We all are new at this and do learn together. But they are fun and I think I will offer them on a regular basis.

So if you are tired of being alone in your studio you can meet with like minded people around the world? Join our virtual “Get-Together” that we are hosting through our Face Book Group at different times on Saturdays or Sundays. We try to accommodate all the time zones in the USA as well as other parts of the world.

ESD – 2 pm = 8 pm in Europe, and 7 pm in the UK

ESD – 6 pm = 8 am the next day in Australia

The “Virtual Get Together in our Creative Kiln Forming Group is to exchange ideas, inspire and get inspired by meeting fellow glass artists. We are exchanging information, marketing ideas techniques and more. If the time allows it, I will also do a show and tell of a short Kaiser Lee Board project. But those meeting are not a class or a workshop.

They should be the platform for you to get to know other glass artists around the world, ask questions and may be answer questions from others in the group.

Hope to see in one of them soon

For those of you who would like to take a workshop or just need a little bit of mentoring, I offered the option of taking a virtual mentoring session or an actual one on one workshop. You will find more information about those features HERE. And if you have any questions, please call me.

Me for You – You for Me

Me for You – You for Me

Last week I went shopping in a small store, where the owner as well as her staff wore face masks. But many of their customers did not. After I asked her how she felt about it, she said as long they don’t make mask wearing mandatory, she could not say anything. So I made her a sign and it is already making a difference.

Some of you might have a similar situation and If you like, you could print a PDF File of this image to make your own sign(s).

Those of you who have met me personally know how I love to be with people. Since the current developments give little hope that I will be able to see many of you personally this year, I wanted to try a get together in our Facebook Group “Creative Kiln Forming”.

This get together is meant to get to know each other, ask questions and if it works well, we could repeat it regularly. Artists thrive by exchanging ideas and collaborating. And this could become our platform.

For those of you who would want to take a class, I also added a virtual class option to our cart.
